American Rooftile Coatings (ARC) provides three types of coating materials, a few sundries and several services to train and certify applicators. Additionally, we can provide site inspectors to oversee and assure the work done meets ARC’s refinishing specification as described on the refinishing process page.

Products
Penetrating Binder (M1898-7) is a polymer dispersion that penetrates deeply into the surface of concrete substrates. It helps to seal and bind the upper surface of a roof tile before application of a color coat. It is supplied at full strength and should not be diluted before use. It must be kept from freezing. Apply with an airless spray unit at or above 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Allow at least an hour before sunset or onset of rain to complete application.

Rooftile Paints (M3100-4000) are 100% Acrylic based pigmented coatings, coming in a variety of colors as shown in the color palette. (click here for color paletteThe paints must be kept from freezing and must be thoroughly stirred before use. Two applications of color coat should be made for a combined dry film thickness of 3 to 4 mils. Apply with an airless spray unit or equivalent at or above 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Allow at least an hour before sunset or onset of rain to complete application of the final color coat.

Clear Sealer and Topcoat (M1075-30, M1125-75 and M1125-25) are 100% Acrylic clear coatings designed to protect the color coat from environmental exposure and their use adds years to the service life of the finish. The clear sealer and topcoat must be kept from freezing and stirred thoroughly before use, especially M1125-25.

Other materials, sundries, can be provided as requested. Specialty mixing equipment, safety equipment and protective gear are available upon request. They may also be purchased at local roofing supply houses or Home Depot stores. It is important that safety and protective gear be used to insure a clean work area and an injury-free job.

Services
Applicators Training & Certification
American Rooftile Coatings will train applicators at a nominal price in the proper method of refinishing a tile roof. This is a one-day training program that shows each step of the process and explains why it is important. After successful completion of the training a certificate will be given to the applicator. In addition, ARC will offer annual re-certification programs to promote the use of best refinish practices, to introduce new materials, methods and equipment and to share experiences. *

Other Services
ARC can provide a site inspection and a written assurance report. We can provide a coating inspector upon request. This service is designed to make sure each step is rigorously followed. ARC can provide technical support in preparing refinished tile specimens to support new business. ARC will assist in discussions with homeowner associations or real estate management companies. Technical evaluation of coating failure or other refinish defect can be examined to determine cause and to assess an appropriate remedy.
